Meet the Pet Pals TV team

Patty Spitler

Patty Spitler is a host and producer for Pet Pals TV and  An Emmy award winner, Patty worked for 23 years at WISH-TV in Indianapolis as an anchor and entertainment reporter.  She retired in 2004 for health reasons.  Patty has Meniere's Disease with permanent and progressive hearing loss.  She now is mom to a Bernese Mountain Dog named Stewie, mutt Mabel and three shelter/rescue kitties.

Ramon Carrera

Ramón Carrera is the Executive Director for Pet Pals TV.  Ramón shoots many of the stories you see on the television show and edits the half hour program.  Ramón also coordinates transmission of the program each week to our growing family of local television stations and cable networks   Ramón owns INDY Audio Visual Productions, a local production company here in Indianapolis.  Ramón attended the University of Indianapolis.

Jason Heath

Jason Heath is Executive Producer for Pet Pals TV.   In addition to producing stories for the program, Jason focuses on affiliate relations with TV stations airing our program.   He also works with local TV station newsrooms to find America's best animal news stories to showcase on Pet Pals TV.  An Emmy award-winning journalist, Jason has served as producer and news manager in Indianapolis, Nashville and Hartford.  

Steve Sweitzer

Steve Sweitzer has over thirty years of broadcast TV news experience, mostly at WISH-TV in Indianapolis; shooting, writing, editing, field producing and as Chief Photographer and News Operations Manager. He has been Indiana News Photographer of the Year and taken a first place in the Associated Press reporting category. He is the owner of Sweitzer Productions, a multimedia services company.  For the past fourteen years, has Steve taught courses for the Journalism Department at Indiana University Purdue University (IUPUI)

Adam Dunn

Adam Dunn is a Photojournalist by day and a Reporter for Pet Pals TV by night. He's always had a passion for animals and now was given the chance to cover animal stories all the time. He's originally is from a little town in Illinois called Blue Mound, population of 1200, and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. degree in Mass Communications: Electronic Media Studies


Kitty Correspondent

KJ has been a well known part of the Indianapolis community for over 20 years. She spent 13 years as the co-host and “voice of reason” for the nationally recognized Smiley Morning Show before getting her own show in the afternoons on 107.9 The Mix.


KJ founded the popular podcast, Kinda Nerdy Girls which has received national attention and was honored as one of the best pop culture podcasts by the Pop Con Podcast Awards in 2018.

KJ’s biggest interest is her love of cats! Her first word as a baby was actually kitty! KJ and her husband Patrick live on Indy’s Northwest side. They are proud pet parents to their 4 rescue cats and 5 fosters who have a following of their own on Instagram at @kjscats.

Caroline Thau

Caroline Thau is an Emmy- award winning anchor and reporter who joins PetPals TV after years on the news desk. She is a graduate of SMU in Dallas, where she grew up, but left to pursue her passion for journalism by crossing the nation in markets from Midland, Texas, Cincinnati,Ohio and Indianapolis - as one of the co- anchors at WXIN Fox 59 when the station started its award-winning newscast,  Caroline is referred to as “momma bear” by her 3 children.  She and her family are animal experts with 4 dogs, 2 cats and a beautiful warm blood horse named Arcos.

Joy Hernandez

With a background in animation, television news, and journalism, Joy Hernandez has created a colorful world of her own, via her art.

Joy Hernandez is an aerosol and acrylic artist currently based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.  Her work can be found at the Art Bank gallery, in the Mass Ave Arts District of downtown Indianapolis, where she is also the Gallery Manager.

Rita Rose

Rita Rose is Executive Assistant at Pet Pals TV and personal assistant to host Patty Spitler. She is a retired reporter and Assistant Arts & Entertainment Editor for The Indianapolis Star and currently is a Feline Friend volunteer at the Humane Society of Indianapolis. At Pet Pals TV, she edits the some of the blog content on the website and contributes to the Paw Prints e-newsletter. She has two kitties: Spike, a black domestic shorthair, and CJ, a senior tabby
