Big and beautiful!

They might look like big, beautiful butterflies, but they aren’t. Cecropia Moths are silk moths with reddish bodies and black to brown wings surrounded by bands of white, red and tan. With a wingspan of five to seven inches it is the largest moth in North America! These nocturnal moths are found in hardwood forests east of the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. and Canada. As with any moth, they are attracted to porch lights. Unfortunately, these lovely creatures only have about a two-week life span. Check out this video:
