Canine Companions' Dogfest will be virtual this year

July 4 was not only Independence Day, it also was Canine Companions® for Independence’s 45th anniversary.
The organization, which trains service dogs, has experienced a lot of growth over the years. Their dogs have increased independence for people with a range of disabilities from hearing loss to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Canine Companions North Central Region will host this year’s Dogfest Sept. 13. Due to COVID-19, the event will be virtual (online). Participants from across the region will celebrate the human-canine bond. For info, visit https://secure.cci.org/site/SPageServer/?pagename=2019_DogFest_About
The expertly trained CCI dogs are always ready to perform commands specific to their graduate’s needs.
“Sometimes I need a reminder that things are OK. Gavin provides that reminder,” says veteran Ken Breen, whose service dog is named Gavin.
