Two Indiana animal welfare groups are planning a Facebook Live show to help ease the stress of self-isolation and raise awareness of the interesting animals in their care, while raising donations to help care for the animals while under quarantine.

Wizard of Paws Wildlife Education Inc. is teaming up with Silly Safaris Shows Inc. to have a Facebook live education show free to the public. The event is #GivingTuesdayNow Animal Aid, scheduled May 5 at a midday time to be announced. For updates, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/315341939428595/ It can also be found under events on the Wizard of Paws Wildlife Education and Conservation Facebook page.

GivingTuesday, the groundbreaking global generosity movement, announced #GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity, set as an emergency response to COVID-19. The day is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

All funds raised for our #GivingTuesdayNow fundraiser will go towards the Wildlife Educators of Indiana Relief Fund. This fund has been established by Wizard of Paws Wildlife Education Inc. to help care for the animals and employees of Indiana based 501(c)3 wildlife educational facilities and sanctuaries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A skunk resides with Silly Safaris.

Most, if not all, of these facilities raise funds by going to schools, libraries and other public events and teaching about the animals in their care. Since all public gatherings have been suspended, these places go without most of their funding to care for the animals along with payments to caregivers, and the public goes without the education they provide.

The funds raised will be used to keep the animal caretakers employed and help offset the cost of feeding and providing medical care for the animals until they are able to go back into the public.

Wizard of Paws takes in many animals at their sanctuary but mainly handles domestic foxes, both red and fennec species, and New Guinea Singing Dogs. They also have an African Spotted Genet, domestic ferrets, a European Polecat, a Serama Chicken, Mini Lop Bunny.

Silly Safaris boasts a large assortment of animal ambassadors for their shows including the Virginia opossum, kinkajou, crab eating raccoon, owls, pixie frog, hairy armadillo, alligator, reindeer, tamandua, groundhogs, skunks and many other animals.
