Mutt Strut is ON! Sign up today!

The Greatest Spectacle in Dog Walking has a new date and a new venue!

COVID-19 messed up the original date in April at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but IndyHumane has rescheduled its biggest fundraiser for Saturday, Sept. 26, at Victory Field. As you know, Victory Field is the home of pro baseball team the Indianapolis Indians, located at 501 W. Maryland St., Indianapolis 46205.

Mutt Strut is a fun event for people and pets across Indiana and beyond. You don’t have to bring a dog or other pet to participate – just come on your own or bring your family. There will be food, pet supplies and other vendors.

Victory Field is a good alternative for this year’s event, according to Amy Tobias, chief development officer for the shelter. “The Speedway was busy rescheduling their own events in the fall and wasn’t able to accommodate us, so we’re thrilled to partner with the Indians,” says Tobias. “They host a lot of different walks for nonprofits, so it will be a day of fun activities for dogs and owners.”

This year’s fundraiser is especially important due to the shelter’s adjustments for COVID-19, she says. “We had to close our vaccine and spay-neuter clinics, so we lost revenue.”

The walk will take place in the streets surrounding Victory Field. Vendors will be located on the concourse and dogs and owners can enjoy activities in the outfield.

IndyHumane CEO David Horth is pleased about the change. “If 2020 has required anything, it has required flexibility and ingenuity. Shifting our largest fundraiser to a new venue has required us to rethink everything. We're very excited about holding the event at Victory Field and we're pleased about how many opportunities this change has created. Mutt Strut will be different, but just as special. The cause remains the same,” he says.

The Humane Society of Indianapolis (@IndyHumane) relies on individual and team fundraising to help save homeless pets all year long. The shelter encourages participants to fundraise as it continues to offer fun, safe ways to stay involved in the fall event. For more info and to register, visit http://indymuttstrut.org
