As the Kitty Correspondent, you know I’m always on the lookout for a fellow animal lover. So, when I sat down with Christie Brinkley—yes, the Christie Brinkley, legendary supermodel and now author of the memoir Uptown Girl—I couldn’t wait to talk pets.
Before we even got started, Christie shared that she was “sitting here right now as we speak with two dogs sleeping at my feet.” She told me about her rescue pup, Chester, who “is a little love,” and her daughter Sailor’s dog Lionel, who’s a frequent houseguest whenever Sailor travels. “I’m the designated dog babysitter, and I absolutely love having him here,” Christie said with a smile.
Let’s not forget the fabulous feline in the family—her daughter Alexa’s cat, Stella, who resides in the guest house and, according to Christie, is “just a beautiful, sweet thing.”
What touched me most was when Christie said, “We think we’re rescuing them, but they’re actually the ones bringing so much love to us. It’s so true.” That’s a sentiment every pet parent can relate to!
Christie talked about the magic that animals bring, grounding us with their unconditional love and making every day brighter—even if it’s just by napping quietly during an interview. “I have always had a pet in my home,” she told me, “and I absolutely love, love, love puppies, ... and cats.”
Of course, there’s even more magic in Christie’s new memoir, Uptown Girl—but here’s a tease: the story about surviving 80-foot waves and a boat fire didn’t make it into the book! (Talk about nine lives.) You can only get that story in my interview below!
