Grateful Rescue, a pet shelter in Muncie, Indiana, had to cancel its largest fundraising event after historic floods left Morrow’s Meadow, the park that hosts the event, under water. Grateful Rescue founder Pamela Terhune cited a surge in mosquitoes as a primary health concern for the animals.

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary in Muncie has to cancel this year’s Grate Tail Wagging Fest scheduled for Sept. 13. Last month, our community experienced a devastating and historic flood. Morrow’s Meadow, the beloved home of our festival, was completely submerged.

The second year of Meowsterpieces is ON! Meowsterpieces is a cat-themed art auction and fundraiser put on by Pepper’s Pals Cat Rescue and the Indianapolis Propylaeum. ! Come admire and take home cat-themed artwork, ceramics, jewelry and much more . . . all while helping save cats and kittens in Indiana. Can a tiny Yorkie rescue from small-town Indiana become the top dog in a national competition? Carolyn Pope hopes so. Her 5-year-old Yorkshire terrier, Bella, is in the running. A resident of Red Key, Indiana, near Muncie, Pope entered Bella in the Pet Lovers Choice Awards, a fan-voted national awards show sponsored by USA Today to benefit the Best Friends Animal Society. Both cats and dogs were eligible, and a winner from each state was selected along with runners-up.
