Patty Spitler joined News 8’s Gina Glaros, and Mike and Kathy Underwood, owners of Camp Bow Wow in Lawrence. The Underwoods opened their Camp Bow Wow location after years of boarding their own five dogs while traveling for corporate careers.
Mike suggests that owners should provide physical affection, such as a head rub, only when the dog has all four paws on the ground. They also suggested owners should engage with their dogs through frequent walks or by checking out doggie daycare services.
These activities may help energetic dogs manage their behavior and interact with others.
The couple also introduced their two Shetland Sheepdogs, Guinness and Bailey, who are related and came from the same breeder. The youngest, Guinness, is still a pup, and is working on getting acclimated to the rest of the Underwood’s pack at home.
