Cavachon writes about life as a pampered pup

Updated: 2 days ago

It isn’t every day that a cute little dog puts paws to keyboard and writes her own life story. But a six-year-old Cavachon who lives in Palm Springs, California, has done just that.

My Name is Sophia is a new “dogography” by Sophia Kipper-Prater, who has a lot to say about being rescued from a Missouri puppy mill and being spoiled by her dad, Craig Prater.

A Cavachon, she explains, is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles and a Bichon Frise. She is proud of her heritage, and when she goes for walks she is happy to notice all the other dog breeds and their differences. She likes the word “diversity” and applies it to her human friends, too.

Sophia admits she leads the life of a princess. She goes for three walks a day (or rides in a stroller on rainy days), gets to watch her favorite TV shows (news and comedies), goes to the beauty salon/spa every five weeks, gets her teeth brushed regularly and has a live-in dog-sitter if her dad is out of town. She enjoys car rides despite the discipline that goes with passenger safety, and she’s always happy when they reach a destination.

In her book, Sophia talks about her love for the words she learns from her dad. In addition to “diversity,” she also is fond of “home,” “ancestor,” “car” and “routine.” They all play a part in living her best life.

Sophia offers some important advice in the last chapter of her book. “To those of you who are reading about my simple but wonderful life, I hope you consider going by your local shelters or humane societies if you are looking for someone to give you love and affection. If you can’t become a pet parent, then donate some food or a few dollars to the facility,” she writes.

“We dogs from shelters or from the streets are much more lovable and appreciative. We are well-behaved and will do anything to make our moms and dads happy.”
